Acyntria Notes · Effective October 4, 2026
In short
Acyntria Notes does not collect your data. Everything you write stays on your device, encrypted. We have no servers, no accounts, no analytics, no advertising, and the app does not have permission to use the internet.
1. Who we are
Acyntria Notes is published by Acyntria ("we", "us"), a company based in Ontario, Canada.
- Email: support@acyntria.com
- Website: acyntria.com
2. What we collect
Nothing. We do not receive, store, or have access to your notes, images, folders, labels, reminders, settings, PIN or password, or any other personal information.
Your content lives only on your device:
- Notes and settings are stored in a database encrypted with a key derived from your PIN or password.
- Images you attach are stored as individually encrypted files in the app's private storage.
Because we never have your data, we cannot recover it for you. If you forget your PIN or password, your notes cannot be recovered by anyone, including us.
3. No internet, no tracking
The app does not request the internet permission and cannot connect to any server. It contains no analytics, crash-reporting, advertising, or tracking code, and it does not use cookies. The open-source libraries it uses run entirely on your device.
4. Permissions the app uses
- Notifications: to show your reminders. Reminder notifications contain generic text only, never the content of your notes.
- Exact alarms: to fire reminders at the time you chose. You can decline this; reminders may then be less precise.
- Run at startup: to re-schedule your reminders after the device restarts.
- Biometrics (optional): to let you unlock with your fingerprint or face. Authentication is performed by Android. The app only learns whether it succeeded and never receives or stores your biometric data. Your PIN or password always remains the primary way to unlock.
- Vibration: for haptic feedback.
The app does not request permission to access your contacts, location, microphone, camera, or files. Photos and files are only ever added through Android's system pickers or by you sharing them to the app.
5. Backups, exports and sharing
Content leaves the app only when you tell it to:
- Backups are files you create and save to a location you choose. A backup contains your encrypted database and its salt, so it stays protected by your PIN or password. Keep it somewhere safe and use a strong password.
- Exports (Markdown, PDF, JSON) are not encrypted. Anyone with access to an exported file can read it.
- The app opts out of Android's automatic cloud backup, so your notes are not copied to your Google account by the operating system.
- Anything you share from the app to another app is handled by that app under its own privacy policy.
6. Google Play
The app is distributed through Google Play. Google processes the purchase of the optional one-time Pro upgrade, including payment details, under Google's Privacy Policy. We never receive your payment card details. Google may give us limited purchase information through the Play Console (such as an order number, the purchase date, and your country) so we can process purchases and refunds. Google may also show us aggregated crash and performance statistics from users who have opted in to share them with Google.
To remember that you purchased Pro, the app keeps a purchase status on your device and confirms it with Google Play.
7. Children
The app is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children.
8. Security
We protect your notes with strong, widely reviewed cryptography (SQLCipher with AES-256, a key derived from your PIN or password using Argon2id, and the Android Keystore for the optional biometric shortcut). No system is perfectly secure. The protection of your notes also depends on your device, on a strong PIN or password, and on keeping your device free of malware.
9. Retention and deletion
Your data stays on your device until you delete it. Deleted notes go to Trash and are removed permanently after the retention period you choose. Uninstalling the app deletes all of its data from your device. Backups and exports you created are separate files and remain where you saved them until you delete them.
10. Your privacy rights
Privacy laws such as Canada's PIPEDA, the EU and UK GDPR, and the California CCPA/CPRA give you rights to access, correct, delete, or move personal information that an organization holds about you. Because we do not collect or hold any personal information about you, there is nothing for us to provide, correct, or delete. We do not sell or share personal information, and we do not profile you. You control your data directly inside the app.
If you have a question or concern, email us at support@acyntria.com. You may also contact the privacy regulating body in your country or region.
11. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we will update the date above and publish the new version with an app update. The current version is always available in the app under Settings › About and at acyntria.com. If we ever change the app so that it handles personal information, we will update this policy first and tell you in the app.
